CT/X-Ray Dual Modality Imaging Specialist - Taylor Regional Hospital
Location: Hawkinsville, GA (Taylor Regional Hospital - Critical Access Hospital)
Schedule: 3x12 Hour Shifts, NIGHTS
Orientation: 4/12 (4 shifts of 12 hours)
Bill Rate: $89/hr | Pay Rate: $70/hr
POSITION SUMMARY:
Taylor Regional Hospital, a Critical Access Hospital in Hawkinsville, GA, is seeking an experienced CT/X-Ray Dual Modality Imaging Specialist to provide sole night coverage for the Medical Imaging Department. This position is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic CT scans and general radiographic (X-Ray) procedures for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients during night shifts. As the only imaging technologist on duty during nights, the specialist must be self-directed, clinically competent, and capable of independent decision-making across both CT and X-Ray modalities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform diagnostic CT scans including routine, contrast-enhanced, CT angiography (CTA), and emergency trauma imaging using a 128-slice CT scanner
- Perform general radiographic (X-Ray) procedures using computed radiography (CR) equipment
- Provide sole night coverage for all imaging needs, including emergency department stat orders and inpatient portable radiography
- Position and immobilize patients appropriately for optimal image quality
- Calculate and select proper exposure factors to produce optimum quality radiographs with ALARA radiation exposure principles
- Evaluate radiograph technical quality and anatomy demonstration; repeat images as necessary
- Administer contrast media as directed by radiologist or ordering physician
- Assist physicians during imaging procedures as needed
- Manage patient care needs, both physical and psychological, while in the Medical Imaging Department
- Transport patients using wheelchairs or stretchers as needed
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital policy
- Maintain assigned imaging areas, equipment cleanliness, and supply inventory
- Communicate critical findings to appropriate clinical staff and radiologists in a timely manner
- Participate in quality assurance and radiation safety programs
- Perform fluoroscopy procedures as needed and within scope of practice
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma required; 2-year degree from an approved Radiologic Technologist Program required
- ARRT registration in Radiography (R) required
- ARRT registration in Computed Tomography (CT) required or must be obtained within 6 months
- Current state licensure as required by Georgia regulations
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist with CT experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience in a Critical Access Hospital or small/rural hospital setting preferred
- Ability to work independently as sole imaging tech on night shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong communication, organization, and patient care skills
- Proficiency in infection control, sterile technique, and patient safety protocols
