Job Title: Custodian

Location: Moffat County School District

Reports to: Building Principal

Work Schedule: 12 months

Date of Availability: ASAP

Date Closing: Open until filled

Positions available at the Craig Middle School, High School, and Early Childhood Center.

*Salary: Step one Custodian's compensation schedule depending on experience. $16.93 - $18.29 per hour.

SUMMARY: Keeps the district's school buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Custodial experience preferred

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Cleans and preserves designated areas and assists other custodians as needed (This includes sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, dusting, cleaning lockers, desks, walls, fixtures and floors). Performs ongoing preventive maintenance (example: chair feet, pencil sharpeners, minor repairs, etc.)
  • Responsible for keeping custodial equipment clean and in top working condition
  • May assist with setup, cleanup and monitoring of cafeteria
  • Cleans carpets; strips and waxes floors (using carpet extractors, scrubbers and buffers). Restocks disposable items and provides head custodian with inventory usage and data
  • Maintains halls, stairs and entryways in a safe and clean condition including snow shoveling
  • Removes trash from inside and outside of building
  • Removes gum and stains from carpet and floors throughout the building
  • Assists visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within building and in obtaining and setting up (or taking down) needed equipment
  • Responsible for changing light bulbs, unloading materials and the handling of tables and chairs Maintains building and grounds security; opens or locks the building gates and grounds as required
  • Initiates work orders through the head custodian for approval
  • Assists other custodians in cleaning, security checks, monitoring the swimming pool and summer cleaning
  • Subject to emergency call-in

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
