Customer Service Representative – Health Insurance

Location: Onsite in Phoenix, AZ (first 10 weeks), then Remote
Pay: $20.50/hour
Duration: 6 months
Schedule: Full-time (40+ hours/week)

 

Purpose of the Role

This is a highly specialized customer service role within the health insurance industry, focused on:

  • Delivering excellent service
  • Ensuring compliance and privacy
  • Supporting key departments:
    1. Utilization Management
    2. Member Relations
    3. Network Management

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Handle high-volume customer inquiries via phone, email, or in-person
  • Research and resolve questions about benefits, claims, eligibility, and services
  • Communicate with internal teams, providers, and external organizations
  • Document interactions accurately in company systems
  • Support utilization management tasks (non-clinical data collection, review requests, etc.)

 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in customer service, claims, medical office, call center, or healthcare-related field

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s Degree
  • Skills:
    • Typing speed: 35+ WPM
    • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and claims coding
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred

 

Key Competencies

  • Strong communication (verbal & written)
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Tech proficiency with office and CRM systems
  • Adaptability and teamwork
