The Entry-Level Cybersecurity Specialist will support the organizations security operations by monitoring systems, identifying vulnerabilities, and assisting in incident response. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build a strong foundation in cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security systems, firewalls, and intrusion detection tools for potential threats
  • Review system logs and investigate suspicious activities
  • Assist in responding to cybersecurity incidents and documenting findings
  • Perform vulnerability scans and support remediation efforts
  • Maintain user access controls and permissions
  • Ensure systems are updated with security patches
  • Support compliance initiatives (NIST, HIPAA, ISO 27001, etc.)
  • Assist with employee security awareness initiatives
  • Maintain accurate documentation of security processes and procedures

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Basic understanding of networking, firewalls, and security principles
  • Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred:

  • Internship or hands-on cybersecurity experience
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or similar
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools or SIEM platforms

Skills

  • Knowledge of common cyber threats (phishing, malware, ransomware)
  • Understanding of risk assessment and security best practices
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
