POSITION SUMMARY:

We are a thriving dance studio located in Springfield, Oregon. Our studio is dedicated to providing exceptional dance education and fostering a love for dance among our students. With a passionate team and a commitment to excellence, we strive to create a positive and inspiring environment for dancers of all ages and skill levels.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your contributions will play a key role in ensuring the success and growth of our studio.

To excel in this role, we are seeking individuals who align with our studio's values and possess the following qualifications:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality dance lessons in a variety of styles, including but not limited to Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Pom, Contemporary, Musical Theater, Acrobatics, and Cheer.
  • Create and choreograph dance routines for performances and showcases.
  • Teach proper dance techniques, terminology, and body alignment to students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans that align with students' learning goals and abilities.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students to help them improve their skills and confidence.
  • Monitor and assess student progress through regular evaluations and performance assessments.
  • Collaborate with other dance teachers and staff to organize and coordinate performances, workshops, and events.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment by enforcing studio rules and promoting positive behavior and teamwork.
  • Stay current with trends and developments in the dance industry by attending workshops, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding class schedules, performances, and other studio-related information.

1.Proven experience as a dance teacher or instructor, with a strong background in multiple dance styles.

2. Proficiency in choreography and dance technique, with the ability to teach and demonstrate complex movements.

3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students of all ages and backgrounds.

4. Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching dance.

5. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and execute engaging dance lessons.

6. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.

7. Experience in performance or competition dance.

8. CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).

ABOUT THE NEXT STEP DANCE STUDIO:

Next Step Dance was started in 2008 by owner, Hillary McClintick, as a freelance business for choreography and training for teams and studio groups ages elementary college throughout the state. In 2018 she opened a studio location in Springfield, OR.

Next Step Dance currently provides both recreational classes and competition teams for dancers ages 2-18 in multiple genres. We currently employ ten teachers and an office manager. The studio produces a variety of performances at events throughout the year. We specialize in dance productions, which incorporate the beautiful art of story-telling within dance!

We are committed to promoting life lessons through dance and to inspiring a love of dance that will last a lifetime regardless of talent or ability. Each dancer has been created by a loving God who makes each unique and special. We desire to create a welcoming atmosphere where high expectations and discipline are taught within a caring environment that nurture a dancers growth.

We offer the following genres/disciplines:

  • Pom
  • Hip Hop

  • Contemporary
  • Funk
  • Musical Theater
  • Ballet Technique
  • Acrobatics & Tumbling
  • Cheerleading

START DATE & IMPORTANT DATES:

  • June/July/August 2024: Training and team meetings via zoom (less than one hour per week)
  • Employment begins weekly on August 26th. (Please speak with us if there could be a delay when moving to the Springfield/Eugene area.)
  • Classes are held Monday - Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and Saturday during the morning/day.
  • Important Dates:
  • Fall Showcase: Saturday, November 2, 2024
  • Merry & Bright Showcase and Photo Day: Sunday, December 8, 2024
  • Winter Production: Friday & Saturday, December 20/21, 2024
  • Cheery & Bright Showcase and Photo Day: Saturday, May 3, 2025
  • End-of-Season Production: Friday & Saturday, June 13 & 14, 2025
  • Scheduled Breaks:
  • Winter Break: December 22, 2024 - January 5, 2025
  • Spring Break: March 22, 2025 - March 30, 2025
  • Summer Break: June 15, 2025 - August 24, 2025
  • There is the opportunity to grow into additional hours or additional roles within the studio.
