Organizational Background A national leader in rural philanthropy, The Ford Family Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation benefiting communities in rural Oregon and Siskiyou County, California. In 1957, Kenneth W. Ford and Hallie E. Ford established a then-modest foundation to give back to the timber communities of southwest Oregon. It grew in size, scope, and geography to become The Ford Family Foundation in 1996, with its main office in Roseburg, Oregon. One of the three largest grantmaking foundations in Oregon, The Ford Family Foundation has assets in excess of $1 billion, an annual budget of approximately $55 million, an eight-member Board of Directors and 58 employees located in two office locations and in rural communities throughout Oregon and Siskiyou. The Opportunity The Data & Research Analyst provides quantitative, analytical and research support to Learning & Impact team projects as well as to Foundation-wide programmatic strategy. This role sits within a highly collaborative department that supports the organization’s growth edge – where data, learning and strategy come together to inform decisions and drive future impact. The primary focus of this role is working with data and research to facilitate broader use – collecting, organizing, analyzing and synthesizing both quantitative and qualitative information to support internal research, grantmaking, strategy development and program evaluation. The Data & Research Analyst serves as a data‑focused research generalist, responsible for pulling data from multiple sources, identifying patterns and trends, summarizing findings and translating data into clear, internal reports and materials. Strong quantitative skills, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage and interpret large datasets are essential. The Data & Research Analyst helps ensure program staff have accurate, well‑organized and usable data to inform decision‑making, learning and impact assessment across the Foundation. This is a non‑exempt position, and the hourly wage is $37.00 per hour. Our excellent benefit package includes paid time off and holidays, health and dental insurance, a health savings account, a generous retirement plan, a matching gifts program, access to an employee assistance program, professional development opportunities, rejuvenation leave and more. Performance and compensation are reviewed at least annually. This position is hybrid with a minimum of three days a week in the office. Residency within 40 miles of Roseburg is required. Deadline to submit applications The letter of interest should include: Insight into why you believe you would be a strong fit for the role. Insight into what draws you to the Foundation and working to support its rural mission. Insight into what you love about data and research. Deadline to submit applications, along with a thoughtful and engaging letter of interest, is Friday, April 10, 2026, 5:00 PM. Please note that the application deadline is subject to change. The position may close sooner than the deadline listed based on the number of applicants. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. Employee Profile The ideal employee is a collaborative, curious and detail‑oriented professional who enjoys working with data to uncover insights that inform learning, strategy and decision‑making across the Foundation. This individual is comfortable balancing independent analytical work with collaborative, team‑based projects and contributes reliably toward shared goals. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and quantitative thinking, a high standard for accuracy and the ability to translate complex or messy data into clear, well‑organized and actionable insights for internal audiences. They are adaptable and eager to learn, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment and motivated by contributing to meaningful, mission‑driven work that supports rural communities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Data Analysis & Reporting Collect, clean, organize and analyze quantitative data from internal and external sources. Pull and summarize grantmaking data (e.g., grant histories, patterns across portfolios, alignment with strategies). Identify trends, gaps and inconsistencies across datasets, evaluations and grant records. Support analysis of surveys and datasets, interpreting results and preparing clear summaries for internal audiences. Develop internal summaries, reports and slide presentations highlighting key findings and insights. Maintain and update datasets, spreadsheets and backend data systems that support dashboards or data visualizations. Assist program and research staff with routine and semi‑routine data compilation, analysis and reporting activities. Research Support Conduct light background research on issue areas relevant to the Foundation’s mission and program strategies. Identify and compile reports, data and publications from academic, nonprofit, partner and policy sources. Evaluate sources for credibility and relevance. Summarize research findings into briefs, notes or short presentations for staff. Knowledge Management Maintain organized research files, databases and internal knowledge resources. Compile and maintain internal research summaries and reference materials. Track developments and trends related to the Foundation’s focus areas. Help connect internal teams with relevant external data sources and research partners. Program & Team Support Assist in preparing materials for internal meetings, research briefings and program discussions. Coordinate scheduling and logistics for research related meetings. Take notes during meetings and summarize key takeaways when requested. Collaborate with program staff and external data partners to identify useful and reputable sources and insights. Required/Minimum Qualifications Minimum 1‑3 years’ experience working with large datasets, spreadsheets or data systems. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with ability to interpret data and identify patterns or insights. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when working with data and research materials. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to summarize complex information concisely. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor in person, over the phone and via email. Demonstrated ability to follow established processes, identify when issues require clarification and elevate appropriately. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Comfort in supporting and engaging with diverse individuals and groups. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, required. Experience with additional analytical and technical tools such as Tableau, R, Power BI, GIS mapping platforms and/or AI‑enabled applications is preferred. Experience with data visualization tools is a strong plus but is not required. Education & Experience A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is helpful but not required. We welcome candidates from a wide range of educational, professional and lived experiences and encourage applications from individuals at various stages of their careers, including early career professionals as well as those bringing deep, extensive or advanced experience. Relevant experience may include work with data analysis, research, evaluation or quantitative problem‑solving gained through professional roles, academic coursework, training programs, internships, fellowships or independent projects. Experience does not need to follow a traditional career path; transferable analytical and research skills developed in a variety of settings are valued.
