DataCenter Network Technician (BreakFix)

Location: Ruston, LA

Job Type: Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Network Technician (Break/Fix) to support daily operations within the data center environment. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining network and hardware infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform break/fix support for network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1 & Layer 2 network issues.
  • Install, configure, and replace hardware components such as:
    • Switches and routers
    • Servers and storage devices
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
  • Perform structured cabling, copper (Cat5e/Cat6) and fiber optic installation, termination, labeling, and testing.
  • Conduct rack and stack of network/server equipment.
  • Replace faulty SFPs, cables, patch panels, and other connectivity components.
  • Work with cross-functional teams for incident resolution and escalations.
  • Perform basic network diagnostics (ping, traceroute, port testing).
  • Monitor data center infrastructure and respond to alerts.
  • Maintain proper documentation of tickets, assets, and changes.
  • Follow change management and safety procedures.
  • Support hardware lifecycle management and asset tracking.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in Data Center operations and Break/Fix support.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • TCP/IP networking fundamentals
    • VLANs and switching concepts
    • Fiber and copper cabling standards
  • Experience with rack & stack and cable management.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (ServiceNow or similar).
  • Ability to read network diagrams and patching layouts.
  • Good troubleshooting and communication skills.
