Data Engineer - Remote - (MBI Clearance Required)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support data discovery and curation in a collaborative team environment. This role involves working with legacy systems hosted in a mainframe environment while utilizing modern techniques to enhance value. The ideal candidate will have expertise in IBM DB2 Query Management Facility (QMF) and extensive experience in data engineering, database management, and data curation for advanced analytics.
Primary Duties:
- Collaborate on data discovery and curation for machine learning and model training (25%).
- Utilize IBM DB2 Query Management Facility (QMF) and related tools to manage data workflows (25%).
- Design, implement, and maintain databases in accordance with best practices (20%).
- Optimize SQL queries and performance for efficient data retrieval (15%).
- Implement data visualization and business intelligence solutions using tools such as Pentaho (10%).
- Ensure compliance with data management regulations and troubleshoot data-related issues (5%).
Required Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in database design and theory.
- 5+ years of experience with data science methodologies and data curation for machine learning.
- Expert proficiency in SQL and query tuning best practices.
- 5+ years of experience with agile methodologies and cloud-based platforms.
- Proficiency in Pentaho and other business intelligence tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to data management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Rational ClearQuest, and Rational ClearCase.
- Experience working within a CMMi Level 3 environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a mainframe environment.
