About the Role:

The Data Quality Specialist is a full-time position dedicated to providing data quality support for emergency shelter, outreach, hypothermia and housing programs operated by Shelter House in Fairfax County. The specialist will manage the established data collection processes for the shelter and housing programs and submit an array of monthly reports to various funders about those programs. Through monthly data analysis, the specialist will provide feedback to staff relative to maintaining high data quality standards and report on program and demographic trends related to the populations served and services provided. Training and supporting staff in effective data habits is also the specialist's responsibility. The specialist will work closely with the Data Director in managing a number of funding reports, internal spreadsheets, and data requests. In keeping with the larger mission of Shelter House's data program, the specialist will model and promote the agency's data goals of developing the agency's data literacy, using data responsibly, and maintaining high data quality.

How You’ll Contribute:

Field technical support questions from program staff

Monitor the data quality process for assigned programs

Analyze and assess report data

Certify that required data is complete and accurate

Direct and train case managers on internal data standards, state and federal regulations, and other applicable guidelines

Complete data reports for multiple funding streams at the direction of the Data Director

Participate in file reviews to ensure documentation follows agency's philosophy, grant and contract requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations

Support leadership and program staff in gathering, analyzing, and reporting data for grant and impact reports

Acquire and sustain competency with HMIS and HUD requirements as they relate to data collection, reporting, analysis, and data retention

Create internal policies that enforce HMIS and HUD requirements

Support program management in incorporating client feedback and surveys into program analysis as the program grows

Present data to staff at monthly meetings and occasional meetings with funders

Ensure compliance with all agency policies

Proficiently operate a personal computer and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)

Exemplify the Shelter House core values of (iCARE); Inclusivity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Empowerment

Perform other duties deemed necessary to support the programs and agency

Requirements

      A bachelor's degree in human services / related field or commensurate experience

      Familiarity and proficiency with social service and/or health data systems, particularly those with federal requirements

      Strong public speaking, written and oral communication skills

      Self-directed

      Detail-orientated

      Able to think systemically

      Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and make sound judgements

      Ability to come on-site as needed for staff meetings and trainings

 

Preferred:

      A master's degree in human services / related field

      Experience with HMIS and HUD data standards and performance measures

      Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

      Background in developing and leading staff trainings

 

Physical Requirements:

      Annual TB Test is required

      Ability to sit or stand for long periods

      Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds
