Jobcon Logo Job Description :

Company Description INFICON is a leading provider of innovative instrumentation, critical sensor technologies, and Smart Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 software solutions that enhance productivity and quality of tools, processes, and complete factories. These analysis, measurement and control products are essential for gas leak detection in air conditioning/refrigeration and automotive manufacturing. They are vital to equipment manufacturers and end‑users in the complex fabrication of semiconductors and thin film coatings for optics, flat panel displays, solar cells and industrial vacuum coating applications. Other users of our vacuum‑based processes include the life sciences, research, aerospace, packaging, heat treatment, laser cutting and many other industrial processes. We also leverage our expertise in vacuum technology to provide unique, toxic chemical analysis products for emergency response, security, and environmental health and safety. Job Description When manufacturing microscopic semiconductor devices, identifying process deviations early in the process is crucial to saving time and money. As these devices become smaller and more complex, it becomes more difficult to detect these mistakes. Residual Gas Analyzers (RGAs) are advanced sensors that are used to measure the chemical composition of gases during chip manufacturing and can be used to detect potential issues. INFICON is a leading provider of both RGAs and software to the semiconductor industry. We are looking for a data science summer intern with an interest in the intersection of math, physics, engineering, and software. You will join our Smart Sensors team and aid in the development of anomaly detection algorithms for RGAs. Along the way, you will complete a real data science project and be mentored by experienced data scientists and engineers. Responsibilities Work within and learn existing models and codebase. Explore and visualize multivariate RGA datasets to identify patterns and anomalies. Critically evaluate model performance and potential improvements. Prototype and test algorithmic improvements. Present findings and results to the team. Qualifications 1‑2 years of experience with Python required. Ideally including pandas, numpy, scikit‑learn, matplotlib, and jupyter. Familiarity with linear algebra and multivariate statistics, including covariance, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Coursework or interest in physics and chemistry. Pursuing a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, or similar. Ideally completed 2+ years. (Preferred but not required) Familiarity with mass spectrometry or RGAs. Read and discuss modern scientific literature on anomaly detection and related data science topics. Gain hands‑on experience with real enterprise‑scale datasets from semiconductor manufacturing. Be mentored by experienced data scientists and engineers. Additional Information The expected salary range for this position is between $18 and $26/hr. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. INFICON provides a dynamic work environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our employees experience ongoing green initiatives, flexible work hours, and a variety of health and wellness programs. Explore abundant growth opportunities and enhance your skill set with INFICON’s innovative mindset. Join our dynamic work atmosphere, which features competitive compensation, potential relocation support, and extra perks such as comprehensive medical coverage, sick time, and more! Selected candidates must have reliable transportation, as our facility is not conveniently located near a bus route. INFICON is committed to ensuring that our online application process provides an equal opportunity to all job seekers that apply without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, gender, age, protected veteran status, disability status, genetic information, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic. A notice describing Federal equal employment opportunity laws is available here to reaffirm this commitment. Any contact that would like to request a reasonable accommodation to participate in the application process should contact [email protected].
