Data Systems Architecture (AWS Linux)

The contractor shall:

• Define the logical and physical tiers, frameworks, and technologies to finalize technical requirements.

• Solve business problems with available technology including hardware, software, DBs, and peripherals; and make recommendations on technology solutions based on requirements gathering and analysis.

• Build and maintain AWS and Linux systems in development, test, and production environments to include virtualization.

• Build, support and maintain applications and services in cloud environments.

• Support cloud migration of on-premises legacy applications to AWS Cloud.

• Perform server, system, and data backup and recovery.

• Perform server and application patch maintenance.

• Conduct Systems and network monitoring.

• Configuring (NIS) Network Information System server

• Increase and/or attach EBS volumes and EBS Snapshots to EC2 instance and configure IOPS.

• Administered user accounts. Monitor the file systems and CPU load for better performance. Detect and correct the file system errors.

• Develop documentation to include requirements identification, systems and network architectural diagrams, logical diagrams, rack elevations, Standard Operating Procedures and Operational Support Plans.

Requirements

Required Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.

• Skills and experience related to business management, systems engineering, operations research, and management engineering.

• Ability to work independently.

• Ability to prioritize workload, provide guidance.

• Extensive experience in Linux administration and best practices.

• Experience managing (servers, storage equipment, fiber switches). SAN and NAS storage on Netapp, Overland Storage and Nexsan storage systems.

• Extensive experience with VMware and expert level knowledge and experience in Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4.x, 5.x & 6.x, 7.x, CentOS 5 & 6, Debian Linux 3.0 on x86, PA-RISC 2.0, Ubuntu 18.04 & 20.04

• Extensive Hands-on experience with EC2, S3, EBS, EFS, Storage Gateway, DataSync, VPC, RDS (MySQL), IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Cloud ONTAP, Glacier, AWS Backups and restores, AWS Data migration (DMZ), FSX for windows, Network LB / application LB, AWS CLI.

• Fluency in programming/scripting skills for automation in Shell scripting, PHP and Perl programming. Knowledge of PowerShell scripts

• Strong understanding of Linux internals (system calls, file systems, processes, etc.).

• Experience working with IIS.

• Experience working with SQL Server

• Linux system server and EC2 instance hardening based on DISA STIGS and CIS Benchmarks.

• Experience with operating system and application virtualization

• Expert level understanding of TCP/IP and other networking principles

• Experience in cloud technologies

• Experience working on teams utilizing Agile methodologies.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Effective teaming and interpersonal skills.

• Prefer certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or higher.

• The ability to work on multiple projects/tasks at once and operate in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment and possess organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in selected programming language or environment

• A bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in IT discipline or equivalent IT vendor certification.
