Database Administrator (NoSQL/Couchbase) (contract) Remote (CST hours), contract position paying $54-$64 hourly. Requires senior-level DynamoDB experience, Couchbase expertise, AWS knowledge, and familiarity with Terraform. Supports Hilton's Property Engagement Platform in a cloud-native environment. Location: United States | Currency: USD Pay Rate Range: 54 - 64 USD hourly Contract through Talent Solutions. You will be employed by Talent Solutions and will not be an employee of Hilton. Contract workers are not employees of Hilton or its subsidiaries, nor eligible for Hilton benefits. This is a US-based remote role with a requirement to work CST hours. Job Summary This is a critical technical role supporting the Property Engagement Platform (PEP), a mission-critical application that serves as a cornerstone of Hilton's guest engagement strategy. You will ensure the availability, performance, and operational excellence of NoSQL database systems powering latency-sensitive and high-throughput workloads. In a cloud-native AWS environment, you will collaborate with application development teams, cloud engineers, and DevOps professionals to design, optimize, and maintain NoSQL infrastructure that meets the demanding requirements of a global hospitality technology platform. Responsibilities Own operational support and lifecycle management for DynamoDB and DAX environments supporting PEP. Partner with PEP application teams to design and validate DynamoDB data models, access patterns, and partition strategies. Manage DynamoDB capacity planning, including on-demand vs provisioned throughput, autoscaling, and cost optimization. Support and operate DAX clusters, including cache behavior tuning, failover considerations, and performance validation. Design and support low-impact change and deployment strategies for NoSQL workloads. Monitor NoSQL environments using CloudWatch and Datadog, identifying performance bottlenecks and availability risks. Implement security controls including IAM-based access, encryption at rest and in transit, and least-privilege policies. Collaborate with Cloud Engineering and DevOps teams using Terraform and IaC to provision and manage NoSQL resources. Support incident response and on-call rotations for production NoSQL platforms. Produce operational documentation, runbooks, and best practices for NoSQL usage across PEP. Provide guidance on NoSQL vs relational tradeoffs, ensuring appropriate technology choices for application use cases. Qualifications & Skills Senior-level experience supporting DynamoDB in production environments. Hands-on experience with DAX, including cache behavior, performance tuning, and operational considerations. Strong understanding of NoSQL data modeling, partitioning, consistency models, and access pattern design. Experience operating NoSQL systems at scale with high availability and low latency requirements. Strong knowledge of AWS services including IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and KMS. Experience with Couchbase (clusters, XDCR, upgrades, performance tuning) required. Experience using Terraform or similar IaC tools to manage DynamoDB, DAX, and related infrastructure. Experience supporting 24/7 production platforms and participating in on-call rotations. Ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex production issues, and communicate clearly with application teams. Availability to work U.S. Central Time hours in a remote capacity. Experience with Amazon DocumentDB or MongoDB-compatible platforms is a strong plus. Experience with Datadog for NoSQL monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding is a strong plus. Background transitioning from relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) to NoSQL platforms is a strong plus. Familiarity with high-scale, multi-region application architectures is a strong plus. Additional Notes Projects involve a cloud-native AWS environment for Hilton's Property Engagement Platform. You will work remotely with CST hours and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain enterprise-scale database systems.
