Job Title: Systems Administrator
Location: Galveston Area, Texas
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to join a dynamic IT team supporting a public-sector environment. This role is responsible for managing and optimizing database systems, ensuring data security, and maintaining high availability across both virtual and physical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, and SANs, following industry best practices.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, topology, change and patch management, and service records.
- Safeguard sensitive data by enforcing strict compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
- Monitor network health using tools such as SolarWinds and Forticloud, and proactively address performance issues.
- Evaluate system architecture to optimize application performance and user experience.
- Configure enterprise-grade firewalls with routing, encryption, and secure access protocols.
- Research and apply firmware updates and security patches to critical systems.
- Administer and maintain both virtualized and physical server environments.
- Assess future infrastructure needs and provide detailed technical recommendations.
- Proven expertise in managing and optimizing relational database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and MySQL, with a strong focus on performance tuning.
- Deep understanding of networking protocols, including Layer 2/3 switching, Spanning Tree Protocols, and both static and dynamic routing.
- Experience working in virtualized environments (e.g., VMware) and familiarity with hybrid identity and security models.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis independently or as part of a team.
- Proficient in managing certificates, performing data backups, and executing system restoration procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
- Industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or similar credentials.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking, including switching, routing, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
