GIS Database Administrator Contract Opportunity Location: Tallahassee, FL Duration: 6 Months+ Term: The contract term for this Staff Augmentation position is intended to be ASAP - 06/30/2028. Interviews: Face to face interviews may be conducted via Microsoft Teams or in person, at the hiring manager’s discretion. Telecommuting: Not authorized for this position. Work Hours: Flexibility to work hours between 7:00 AM & 6:00 PM Monday - Friday, either on a rotation or as part of a regular and on call work schedule. This position will report to: OIT Application Services Barry Building, 3185 S. Blair Stone Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32301. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. Experience The candidate must have skill and five (5) years combined experience in database administration for the following database platforms: Must have experience with GIS and spatial databases (specifically PostgreSQL and Oracle) Must have experience SQL Server 2012 and above Must have experience Oracle 19c and above Experience with managing ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS Enterprise, and cloud-hosted GIS services (e.g., ArcGIS Online, Azure GIS integrations) Experience with Azure SQL is a plus Primary Job Duties/Tasks This resource will primarily be tasked with performing Database (SQL Server, Oracle, GIS) planning and operational activities including, but not limited to the following: Daily operational and database administration activities Plan, design, implement, support for database structures Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation Perform SQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL Code reviews Assist with training/mentoring other technical staff Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) The submitted candidate must be able to apply common knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of relational database management systems Ability to work independently in the technical analysis, evaluation and resolution of large Enterprise database production issues or problems, with little or no assistance, and to make decisions and recommendations to remediate those issues or problems Knowledge of Relational Database Management principles, design and practices Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of ESRI SDE Geodatabases Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work assignments for him/herself or lower level database analysts Skill in accurately estimating time requirements for database analysis and administration tasks for a project Skill in customer service Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, to build efficient, long term solutions in the development of databases utilizing all established departmental standards Ability to analyze processes and workflows to design efficient database solutions Ability to prepare complex database specifications Ability to design relational databases Skill in interpreting and communicating technical information related to computer programming and data processing, both verbally and in writing Ability to develop and manage relational databases in accordance with the Department’s standards
