Job Title: Database Administrator
Location: Plano, TX or McLean, VA (5 Days in Office) - Local
Role Overview
The Database Administrator will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing enterprise-grade PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases in AWS environments. This role requires strong hands-on database administration expertise, cloud experience, and prior technical leadership to support high availability, performance, and secure data operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and maintain PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases in AWS environments
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, security, and performance of database systems
  • Monitor database health, optimize performance, and manage backup and recovery strategies
  • Enforce access controls, security policies, and compliance standards
  • Lead database migrations, including planning, execution, validation, and post-migration support
  • Ensure data integrity and minimal downtime during migrations and upgrades
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and application teams to align database solutions with business needs
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Document database architectures, standards, best practices, and operational procedures
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, including advanced database administration
  • Hands-on experience with MongoDB
  • Prior technical lead or senior-level experience
  • Experience working with AWS or cloud-based database environments
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience working with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, or Capital One
  • Professional certifications in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or AWS
  • Experience migrating databases to cloud-native solutions
  • Knowledge of AWS services, database automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
