A Federal Law Enforcement agency is seeking a highly skilled and mission‑driven Database Administrator to support its global Information Technology (IT) operations. You will play a critical role in ensuring fast, secure, and reliable access to authoritative data sources that directly enable agency's strategic and security missions. This role involves optimizing, securing, and maintaining complex SQL and Oracle database environments, troubleshooting application and data issues, supporting integration and capacity planning, and adhering to strict federal and DoD standards for data security and availability. Responsibilities Develop a proficient knowledge of data available in organizational databases and data repositories. Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, and system security administration. Optimize and tune SQL and/or Oracle databases to ensure application performance and high availability. Monitor and support database change management and data migration through all SDLC stages. Troubleshoot, resolve, and document database, application, and integration issues. Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations as dictated by DoD policy. Develop, update, and maintain database documentation, diagrams, schemas, and data dictionaries. Ensure compliance with DoD, Department of the Navy (DoN), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and other federal mandates for data management, security, and reporting. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including data architects, data engineers, application developers, and information assurance staff to support mission objectives, resolve issues, and adopt best practices. Maintain accurate database inventories and perform capacity planning, optimization, and performance tuning. Participate in risk assessment and ensure database configuration meets cybersecurity requirements. Provide timely status/progress reports and support audits, inspections, and compliance reporting. Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required. Active TS/SCI security clearance at contract start is required. Education & Experience Minimum of five (5) years of experience with code migration, database change management, and data management through various stages of the development life cycle. At least two (2) years of specialized experience related to the assigned tasks (e.g., Oracle, SQL, Erwin Data Modeler). Technical Skills Demonstrated experience with Oracle and/or SQL databases (installation, configuration, optimization, and security). Strong understanding of proper database normalization, indexing, transaction protection, and locking. Experience with database modeling and database design tools such as Erwin Data Modeler. Certifications Must meet the requirements of an ITA II per the DoD 8570.01‑M. Security+ (or equivalent) certification required. Preferred Experience supporting large government installations or programs. Knowledge of DoD or Federal data governance and data security policies. Experience with backup/recovery solutions, database performance monitoring, and troubleshooting tools. Competencies & Soft Skills Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow‑through. Customer‑service orientation and flexibility in a dynamic, high‑impact environment. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a mission‑critical environment.
