Summary: The position is for a Senior-level Database Administrator (DBA) to provide crucial support for all SQL Server applications, filling a temporary gap in the team. The role involves 24x7 support for complex systems, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) management. The DBA will support Tier 1 applications within the Bureau of Labs and Cancer Registry, handling installation, maintenance, patch management, and troubleshooting across SQL Server environments.

Position Info:

  • Title: Database Administrator 5 - SQL Server
  • Client: State Of Michigan
  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Location: Lansing, MI 48933
  • Work Mode: Onsite

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24x7 support for complex SQL Server applications, including HA and DR solutions.
  • Install, patch, and maintain database management software for test and development environments.
  • Monitor and support database integrity, clustering, replication, and backups.
  • Execute scripts for database object modifications and monitor database jobs and scheduled processes.
  • Troubleshoot database errors, backup failures, and connectivity issues.
  • Develop and maintain systems documentation, following industry and organizational standards.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in SQL Server Database Administration (SQL Server 2016 and upwards).
  • Expertise in high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) within SQL Server.
  • 3+ years of experience in creating, updating, and maintaining systems documentation.
  • Strong skills in space allocation, database monitoring, and capacity planning.
