The Teacher Assistant for the Infant Day Care supports staff by providing safe and nurturing care to our staff’s children. The Teacher Assistant fosters a warm and welcoming environment within Argosy Collegiate Charter School, easing staff’s minds by providing quality and loving care to staff’s children. The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher with implementing a daily schedule.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree (or higher) preferred
  • Infant CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Experience in previous educational care settings and/or extensive experience working with infants
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Creative and innovative with a warm demeanor;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic, results-oriented team.
  • Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent with people
  • Strong work ethic, proactive and able to accommodate high level of responsibility
  • Proven ability to multi-task and respond efficiently and effectively to new situations

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

While actual roles and responsibilities will vary depending on individual circumstances, the Assistant Teacher for the Infant Day Care will generally be required to perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list is not all -inclusive and that the Lead Teacher may also assign other tasks he/she deems appropriate.

  1. Monitors all children under care while parents are at work.
  2. Ensures that children are safe and well-cared for.
  3. Provides a consistent daily schedule for young children, including feedings and nap times.
  4. Making sure that the day care facility is clean and organized.
  5. Taking children outdoors for walks and fresh air, weather permitting.
  6. Providing updates to parents/guardians on children’s behaviors and progress.
  7. Administers first aid when necessary.
  8. Contacts parents in the event of an emergency.
  9. Applies childhood development theory to create and implement everyday, enriching activities and curricula.
  10. Ensures compliance with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by the MA Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
  11. Other duties as assigned by the school Principal.
