Job Summary:

The Deburr Operator performs a variety of operations to remove burrs or sharp edges, clean surfaces on any bars or parts manufactured, prior to final inspection.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring instruments is preferred
  • Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Use belt sanders, abrasive charged wheels, fixtures, files, scrapers, solvents, and other hand tools.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance regarding set up.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations.
  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: drilling, tumbling deburring, bench operations and inspection of parts.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the PM charts.
  • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
  • Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery.
  • Assists in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment.
  • Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
  • Basic understanding and ability to follow manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
  • Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management
  • Attend scheduled meetings and actively participate by providing meaningful input.
  • Flexibility with time and schedule to assure availability to customer or company as circumstances warrant.
  • Communicates honestly, professionally, and respectfully with others and demonstrates effective listening skills.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques.
  • 3+ years preferred experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
  • Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work.
  • Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants/oils.
  • The noise level in the work environment is generally loud, in which hearing protection is required.
