General Information:

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Division is seeking an enthusiastic and organized student to assist with community engagement and outreach efforts for special projects. This role is perfect for a student dedicated to fostering inclusive environments and building strong community partnerships.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of outreach strategies to engage diverse communities.
  • Coordinate and support outreach events, workshops, and informational sessions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, student groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and distribute outreach materials, including emails, newsletters, and presentations.
  • Conduct outreach to underrepresented groups to promote DEI programs and resources.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from community members to improve outreach efforts.
  • Support the DEI team in creating inclusive and accessible event environments.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with event planning and coordination.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong project management skills.
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging.

Additional Posting Information:

  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study via the 24 25 financial aid package
  • Commitment to work an average of 8-10 hours per week for at least one semester (preferably the full academic year)

Conditions of Employment:

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).

Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.

E-Verify Notice: After accepting employment, new hires are required to complete an I-9 form and present documentation of their identity and eligibility to work in the United States. James Madison University uses the E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization.
