The main responsibility of the Deli Cook is to prepare all Deli cold case and hot case items, as well as, soups, entrees based on the daily production schedule. We will be quick to respond to our customers and use "Red Truck Service" when additional assistance is needed.Work ExperienceDuties/ResponsibilitiesServe customers in the Deli Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their businessCommunicate directly with catering customers via phone, email, or in person, in regards to event details and make recommendations for their catering needsManage catering orders including, but not limited to, production scheduling, communicating with transportation to schedule catering deliveries and preparing orders for the following dayCommunicate with Deli Salad Production and Deli Associates regarding the product needed for catering ordersPrepare items for Deli island, including, but not limited to, packaged foods, taco salads, pizzas and wrapsPrepare catering trays, including, but not limited to, cheese and meat trays, fruit trays, sandwich trays, vegetable trays, and shrimp traysMaintain sanitation and temperature logsAssist Deli Lead/Chef and Cook with minimal food preparationOperate, maintain and clean deli equipment including knives, ovens, fryers, dishwashers, coolers and slicersAssist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Deli DepartmentMaintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and proceduresAssist with all other Deli Department duties as neededQualifications:Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Deli equipmentProficient knife-handling skills and comfortable with working with various types of foodEagerness to interact with customersStrong sense of team ability to anticipate the needs of the teamAbility to work at a fast paced and efficient mannerAbility to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervisionExcellent time management, prioritization and organization skillsAbility to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of timeAbility to lift up to 50 pounds
