The Team Youll Work With
The Office of the Chief of Staff to the Mayor consists of a team dedicated to advancing and executing
the Administrations agenda. The Office manages executive operations pertaining to the Mayors
policies, agenda, schedule, events, and day-to-day needs. The team led by the Mayors Chief of Staff
coordinates the operations of the Office of International Affairs, Intergovernmental Affairs, the
Community Affairs Unit, the Office of Operations, the Office of Administrative Services, the Office of
Special Projects and Community Events, the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management,
Gracie Mansion, and the Office of Correspondence.

The Problems Youll Solve
Reporting to the Chief of Staff to the Mayor, the Deputy Chief of Staff coordinates and advances the
work of the office. Partnering with the Mayors Office units and city agencies, this individual ensures
operational efficiency and effectiveness within the Office and serves as a trusted adviser to the Chief of
Staff and represents executive leadership in delegated projects and initiatives designed to achieve the
executive office and agencys priorities and objectives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Manage a variety of high-priority projects for the Chief of Staff, driving towards goals, ensuring
timely completion of deliverables, troubleshooting issues
  • Support the Chief of Staff with oversight of operational or organizational issues as well as
advising on key hiring or appointments.
  • Manage a portfolio of Mayor's Office units
  • Coordinate with units, agencies, boards, organizations, and institutions relevant to the work of

the office - coordinate communications and outreach strategies and ensure positive and
efficient relationships between all stakeholders.

  • Generate policy briefings and project-related documents including project work plans, meeting
agendas, items for follow-up, and decision memos
  • Assist in overseeing and monitoring agency/unit projects and initiatives to ensure that goals
and timelines are met, in coordination with appropriate unit/agency leadership and key staff
within Mayors Office
  • Initiates and spearheads special projects and initiatives; mitigating political and operational
challenges
  • Assists in facilitating decision-making with the Director and Senior leadership team; acts as
confidant, sounding board, and advisor to offer sound perspective and guidance
  • Help to create/facilitate communication channels, strategies, and tactics that support our goals
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders within the organization to generate proper
levels of awareness and adoption of the teams objectives and goals
  • Maintain a consistent communication and socialization plan to ensure teams have the most up
to date information
  • Work with units/ agencies to advance Mayoral policy priorities and develop policy proposals

with agency leadership related to agency objectives and advance for COS and/or Mayor
decision-making, and other duties as assigned.

About You
You have experience working in government preferred; prior experience with administrative

and procurement processes preferred;
  • You have business operations, process design, and project management experience
  • You have the ability to operate independently with excellent time management skills and
confirmed ability to deliver on multiple, competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • You have the ability to effectively interact with people and partners across all levels within an
organization
  • You have proven ability to follow through on complex projects from idea to implementation
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate

complex technical information into clear and compelling presentations for an array of
audiences.



Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayors compensation package includes a market competitive
salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role
is $201,000 to $211,000.

Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other
factors.
