DEPUTY CLERK II (Sparks Justice Court) Apply
Under general supervision, performs general clerical duties in support of an assigned department and other related duties as required. Schedule 4 - 10 hour days, Monday through Thursday. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Handle telephone and in-person inquiries regarding court appearances and filings; provide information in a professional and courteous manner. Research and resolve customer issues and direct inquiries to appropriate staff members; assist less experienced staff members in responding to complex questions. Serve as a knowledgeable resource to internal staff members regarding court policies, procedures, objectives, and operational functions; provide training to less experienced staff members. Receive, compile, and organize information to prepare documents, records, reports, and correspondence. Process, file, and maintain various legal documentation through e-file and at the counter. Perform cashier duties, including overseeing all monetary transactions, reconciliations, and accepting fees, fines, bail, and other monies paid to the Court; balance daily receipts and prepare for bank deposit. Provide court support services to court operations using independent judgment and personal initiative to perform various duties, such as responding to routine letters and general correspondence and composing letters, memoranda, and reports. Prepare and maintain case files and other legal documentation resulting from court proceedings, including warrants, motions, judgments, and waivers. Set court dates at the counter, over the phone, and by mail. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Equivalent combination of formal education and applicable related experience may be considered. High school diploma or equivalent. At least four years of clerical or office support work experience, preferably in a legal or customer service-focused setting. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat Pro software. Physical Requirements Majority of work is completed in a general office environment with exposure to moderate levels of noise in a well-lit, well-ventilated and fast paced environment; continuously required to read computer screens. Knowledge of Recordkeeping and reporting techniques. Word processing techniques, methods, and programs. Basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. Basic research techniques. Ability to Complete and maintain accurate records. Proofread a variety of documents for accuracy and completeness. Respond toinquiries courteously and effectively. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines. Exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external parties.
