Job Description
The Town of Algoma has a population of ~7,000 and is conveniently located along Highways 41 and 21. The town is the City of Oshkosh’s western border and Lake Butte des Morts serves as the town’s northern border and public landing with fishing pier provides access to nearby Fox River and Lake Winnebago. Primarily residential and agricultural in composition, the town offers recreational opportunities with community parks and recreation areas. With the town’s close proximity to Oshkosh, residents can enjoy quieter living with access to large city amenities including outstanding public and private schools, churches of most denominations, excellent medical facilities, a wide range of services, shopping and a wide variety of restaurants.
The Deputy Clerk/Treasurer supports the administrative functions of the Town of Algoma by assisting the Clerk/Treasurer in the execution of statutory duties, financial operations, and day-to-day office management. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records, processing financial transactions, supporting elections, supporting tax collection and interacting with the public in a professional and courteous manner. The Deputy Clerk/Treasurer performs a wide range of clerical and financial tasks requiring attention to detail, discretion, and a strong understanding of municipal operations. In the absence of the Clerk/Treasurer, this position is responsible for the office and serves as interim Clerk/Treasurer as necessary. This position is also responsible for opening and closing the office, ensuring that daily operations begin and end smoothly and securely.
This is a full-time non-exempt position with health and retirement (WRS) benefits. Pay range is $21.00-$26.00 per hour DOQ. Position Reports to Town Clerk/Treasurer. For full details, please refer to the job description available on the Town’s website.
