Job Description

Design Consultant

About the Company

S.J. Janis is a long-tenured, family-owned residential remodeling firm serving

the Greater Milwaukee market. Founded in 1951, the team delivers high

end, design-build remodeling - from whole-home transformations and complex renovations to additions - with a reputation built on craftsmanship,

communication, and trust.

The company operates with an in-house, end-to-end model (consultation

through design through build), supported by a modern, client-facing office in

Elm Grove and a mix of employed team members plus trusted trade

partners. S.J. Janis is EOS-aligned and runs with a leadership team that

values clear accountability and strong operating rhythms.

Role Summary

The Design Consultant is responsible for selling high-end residential remodeling

projects by understanding client needs, creating compelling visions with the design

team, and professionally presenting and closing design and construction

agreements. This consultative sales professional serves as a trusted advisor

throughout the client journey, converting leads into design agreements (typically 4%

of project cost), shepherding projects through the design process, and earning

commission on both the front-end design phase and back-end construction

completion.

This role is on-site in Elm Grove with client meetings at homes throughout the

Greater Milwaukee area. The Design Consultant reports to the Sales Manager and is

expected to be optimistic, results-oriented, and relationship-focused, able to use the

Sandler Sales System to build trust, ask effective questions, and guide clients

through buying decisions while maintaining enthusiasm for their projects and long

term loyalty to S.J. Janis.

The Mission

S.J. Janis exists to deliver high-end remodeling experiences that clients trust

from the first conversation through the final walkthrough. The mission is

simple: do what we say we will do - build with craftsmanship, communicate

clearly, and protect the homeowner relationship at every step. Every project

is an opportunity to earn a client for life through disciplined planning, strong

field leadership, and pride in the finished product.

Why Janis?

S.J. Janis offers a rare combination of stability, quality, and impact in residential remodeling.

Team members join a family-owned company with decades of trust in the Milwaukee

market, where the work is consistently high-end and technically interesting, and where

craftsmanship and clear communication are non-negotiable. The environment is

collaborative across Sales, Design, and Production, supported by strong standards and

systems that enable teams to run projects professionally.

Role Metrics and Goals

90-Day Performance Objectives: Assessment & Integration

• Understand the Design Consultant role, master S.J. Janis sales SOPs, and develop

confidence in the company's service offerings and first appointment strategies

through shadowing, training, and hands-on practice.

• Develop core competency using the Sandler Sales System, learning to build

rapport, ask effective questions, uncover client needs and budget, and guide

prospects through buying decisions with confidence and integrity.

• Begin managing assigned leads from the inbound pipeline, conducting initial

consultations, building relationships with prospects, and converting conversations

into scheduled design appointments.

• Establish working relationships with the design team, production staff, and Sales

Manager, understanding how collaboration across departments creates seamless

client experiences and successful project outcomes.

180-Day Performance Objectives: Leadership & Execution

• Successfully sell design and construction agreements, converting qualified leads

into signed projects by professionally presenting value, addressing concerns, and

guiding clients through the decision-making process.

• Build a pipeline of prospects and active design projects, maintaining consistent

activity levels and conversion metrics that demonstrate progress toward annual

sales goals.

• Strengthen client relationships and service delivery by staying engaged throughout

the design phase, managing expectations, facilitating selections, and ensuring clients

feel supported and excited about their upcoming projects.

• Begin generating referrals from satisfied clients and expanding your circle of

influence through networking, relationship-building, and active participation in the

Greater Milwaukee remodeling community.

365-Day Performance Objectives: Scale & Strategic Impact

• Achieve $1,000,000 in sold project volume, demonstrating consistent sales

performance, strong conversion rates, and the ability to manage a full pipeline of

opportunities from initial contact through construction completion.

• Serve as a dependable, high-ownership sales professional who creates clients for

life, generating repeat business and referrals that contribute to S.J. Janis's growth

and strengthen the company's reputation in the market.

• Demonstrate mastery of the Sandler Sales System and consultative selling

approach, confidently handling objections, navigating complex buying decisions, and

maintaining enthusiasm throughout long sales cycles.

• Contribute to S.J. Janis's long-term success by operating as a trusted team player

who collaborates effectively across departments, mentors newer team members,

and embodies the company's values of positivity, intentionality, and genuine care

for client outcomes.

Titus Talent Strategies is an approved partner of this Firm. For additional details on this
