Nature & Scope:
Positional Overview
The Design Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining product designs that support efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing. This individual contributor role works closely with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure designs meet performance requirements while aligning with manufacturing capabilities and scalability.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.

Tasks That Will Lead To Your Success
- Lead product design efforts with a strong emphasis on manufacturability, assembly optimization, and cost efficiency.
- Review and refine product designs and engineering documentation to ensure alignment with manufacturing capabilities and production processes.
- Conduct DFM/DFA reviews and provide clear, actionable feedback to engineering and product development teams.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to evaluate materials, tooling, and production methods.
- Identify and implement design improvements to reduce manufacturing costs, scrap rates, and cycle times while maintaining quality and performance standards.
- Perform tolerance analysis, root cause problem solving, and design updates based on testing and production feedback.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) efforts from concept and prototyping through production launch and ramp-up.
- Create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Ensure designs comply with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing processes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of engineering and operational objectives.

Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in Design Engineering, Product Engineering, or a related engineering role with strong DFM/DFA focus.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, molding, casting, metal fabrication, and assembly.
- Experience applying GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, material selection, and cost analysis principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting products from concept through full production lifecycle.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering change management processes.
- Experience working in a high-volume or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
