Job Description

About the Role:

We’re helping a manufacturing client find a hands-on Design Engineer to transform customer and internal requirements into practical, manufacturable designs that meet performance, quality, cost, and delivery objectives. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and operations—to support rapid product development, design for manufacturability, and continuous improvement in a high-mix, low-volume environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create and release 2D drawings and 3D models for custom fabricated assemblies and components
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) through concept development, prototyping, and production launch
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Assembly (DFA), and Cost (DFC) principles
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and models; identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and operations to ensure manufacturable, cost-effective designs
  • Participate in design reviews and technical problem-solving for quality, fit, function, and performance
  • Provide technical support on the shop floor during build, test, and validation activities
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers or designers

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing creation (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar)
  • Experience designing welded, fabricated, or machined components
  • Familiarity with custom manufacturing, low-volume/high-mix, or OEM environments a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, practical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

Why You’ll Love It Here:

  • Take ownership of designs from concept to production
  • Work on custom, high-impact projects that are actually built and used
  • Be part of a team-first culture with opportunities to mentor and grow
  • Competitive salary and benefits

Location: New Holstein, WI
