Job Description

Position Summary:

  • Crown Utilities LLC is seeking a qualified Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This role is responsible for producing high-quality telecommunications designs in accordance with client and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in both fiber optic and coaxial network design and be proficient in multiple drafting platforms to support varying client requirements.


Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed construction drawings based on client specifications, including base maps, profiles, site plans, and construction details.
  • Prepare complete, permit-ready design packages for submission to municipalities, railroads, and federal agencies.
  • Support permitting activities through coordination and documentation as needed.
  • Perform quality control reviews of design work produced by other team members and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Address and resolve drawing comments from clients, peers, and management in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain organized and accurate project files in accordance with company standards and procedures.


Success Factors / Job Competencies / Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; CAD Design certification or an associate’s degree in CAD Design preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and Google Earth.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, SharePoint and Smartsheet’s.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing individual responsibilities.


Working Conditions / Environment:

This position operates onsite in an office environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.


This is a largely sedentary position; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


While performing this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
