Job Summary:

The Design Engineer will apply engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power-related systems. This role supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications. The ideal candidate will have 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.
Location:Naperville, Illinois, United States
Responsibilities:

- Apply engineering processes and design criteria to the development of power-related systems.
- Support estimate preparation, develop design options, and prepare construction specifications.
- Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.
- Create a safe work environment by putting safety first.
- Understand the processes used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance.
- Gain an understanding of the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance.
- Understand design practices and work processes.
- Use all software applications utilized in design.
- Understand industry design standards.
- Support design standard and criteria development for the system.
- Support construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations.
- Estimate material requirements for projects.
- Transmit construction packages and support specifications.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Introductory engineering knowledge
- Basic problem-solving skills
- Basic discipline software knowledge
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
- Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and/or vendors
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans intermediate to advanced proficiency
- MS Office intermediate proficiency
- Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with ABET Accreditation
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering degree
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
- CAD/GIS basic proficiency
- Hydraulic analysis experience
- Project Management
Special Considerations:

- Limited discretion in making independent decisions based on procedures and review with supervisor.
