Position Summary
KRB Machinery is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role will focus on the mechanical and electromechanical design of new and existing steel fabrication machinery. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, technical expertise, and a collaborative spirit to help drive product innovation and ensure manufacturability.
This fully on-site role is well-suited for someone who enjoys working hands-on and is eager to contribute directly to the development and performance of our products.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical and electromechanical systems for new machinery and next-generation products
  • Improve designs of existing products for safety, performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Conduct product testing and verification to ensure compliance with performance standards and applicable regulations
  • Partner with engineering team members to share knowledge, solve complex design challenges, and ensure alignment across projects and product lines
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, service, and sales teams to bring designs from concept to production
  • Support troubleshooting of design-related issues in manufacturing or the field
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work with customers or sales teams to develop customized solutions as needed
  • Occasionally travel overnight to support product development or customer needs

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in design engineering (capital equipment or fabrication machinery preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical system design
  • Experience with motion control systems, including servo drives (required)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (preferred)
  • Experience with HMIs is desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Committed to ethical behavior and respectful collaboration
