Design Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

- Provides strategic vision and technical leadership for product and application technologies aligned with customer and business needs

- Leads end?to?end product development from concept through production, including design, prototyping, testing, and launch

- Manages, mentors, and evaluates engineering teams, including staffing, training, performance oversight, and administrative responsibilities

- Directs multiple concurrent engineering projects, ensuring on?time delivery within budget, resource, quality, and cost constraints

- Ensures product quality, regulatory compliance (e.g., DOT, ASME, ISO), safety adherence, and thorough documentation throughout the product lifecycle

- Drives cost?effective, high?quality design decisions through process optimization, risk management, and best?practice development

- Collaborates cross?functionally with manufacturing, quality, sales, marketing, finance, suppliers, and customers to ensure feasibility and alignment

- Oversees product lifecycle management, including updates, enhancements, obsolescence planning, and new product introductions

- Promotes innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage

- Communicates effectively with stakeholders by presenting engineering plans, negotiating specifications, reporting progress, and resolving complex problems

Requirements for Design Engineering Manager:

- 5+ years experience in ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 design-by-rule for 49 CFR cargo tank production

- 7+ years experience with 49 CFR design, testing, and fabrication requirements for cargo tank motor vehicles

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited)

- 3+ years FEA experience related to pressure vessels and welded sheet metal structures

- Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum welded construction
