The Desktop Support Technician oversees and coordinates deployment, troubleshooting, and support of Windows and MacOS end-user devices for faculty, staff, departments, and computer labs across campus. Responsibilities Deploys, manages, and maintains Windows and MacOS computer hardware and software to end users (or clients), including college faculty, staff, administrators, and computer labs. Develops, maintains, and deploys standard Windows configurations and software images for college devices. Provides day-to-day technical support for faculty, staff, administrative, and departmental devices. Maintains inventory of computers, peripherals, and related devices. Develops and maintains systems to remotely manage and support end-user hardware and software. Deploys and maintains enterprise detection and response (EDR) software on college computers. Deploys and maintains encryption protocols on college computers. Consults with Library and Information Services staff and makes recommendations for deploying updated hardware and software. Provides support for unique printing scenarios, including ID badge printing. Qualifications Associates Degree in Information Technology, Business, or other relevant Two years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting computer hardware and software Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, students, faculty, tech support providers, and vendors. Advanced proficiency with MacOS and Windows OS, and experience in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues The ability to use email and office suites (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office), help ticketing systems (Request Tracker), telephony (Zoom Phone), directory services (Microsoft Active Directory), and other standard technologies employed by the college. Computer, research, and problem-solving skills. The ability to create, maintain, and deploy standard Windows images using built-in Windows tools (Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit) and college hardware. The ability to use a variety of hand tools to perform computer hardware and accessory assembly and troubleshooting.
