Position: Developer III - Software Engineering
Location: Frisco, TX/Alpharetta, GA
Duration: 11 Months
Job Type: Temporary Assignment

Job Description
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS RDS and related services (CloudWatch, IAM, S3, Lambda).
  • Strong understanding of SQL, PL/pgSQL, and query optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., pgAdmin, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch).
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems and shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, high availability, and replication strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in production environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data migration from on-prem to AWS RDS.
  • Exposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD integration.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pg_stat_statements).
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and maintain AWS RDS PostgreSQL instances for production and non-production environments.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and indexing strategies.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies, including automated snapshots and point-in-time recovery.
  • Manage database security, including user roles, access controls, and encryption.
  • Support operations teams with incident resolution, root cause analysis, and on-call troubleshooting.
  • Perform database upgrades, patching, and schema changes with minimal downtime.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripts and AWS tools (e.g., Lambda, CloudWatch, Systems Manager).
  • Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and operational runbooks.
