Position: Developer III - Software Engineering
Location: Frisco, TX/Alpharetta, GA

Job Description
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS RDS and related services (CloudWatch, IAM, S3, Lambda).
- Strong understanding of SQL, PL/pgSQL, and query optimization techniques.
- Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., pgAdmin, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch).
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, high availability, and replication strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in production environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data migration from on-prem to AWS RDS.
- Exposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD integration.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pg_stat_statements).
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain AWS RDS PostgreSQL instances for production and non-production environments.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and indexing strategies.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies, including automated snapshots and point-in-time recovery.
- Manage database security, including user roles, access controls, and encryption.
- Support operations teams with incident resolution, root cause analysis, and on-call troubleshooting.
- Perform database upgrades, patching, and schema changes with minimal downtime.
- Automate routine tasks using scripts and AWS tools (e.g., Lambda, CloudWatch, Systems Manager).
- Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and operational runbooks.
