Description: Help For Children (HFC) is an international nonprofit founded by the alternative investment community dedicated to raising money to fight child abuse. Through a large network of active volunteers, committee members, and board members in association with staff based in New York City, fundraising and grant making is conducted in the US, Canada, UK and the Cayman Islands.
HFC is currently seeking a bright, energetic, mission focused Development Assistant, who will report directly to the Senior Director of Development & Events. The Development Assistant is a member of the events team and will work with the team on the production and execution of over 20 events annually, mainly performing tasks associated with providing administrative support to the events team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with executing and wrap up of events
- Liaise with Blackbaud on system issues
- Issue invoices, input and process gifts on RE NXT
- Clean up data as necessary
- Update records on a regular basis
- Draft acknowledgement letters and other correspondence for donors and prospects
- Assist in preparing materials for cultivation, solicitation, and strategy meetings
- Prepare event collateral such as name tags, auction materials, signage and other associated collateral
- Manage and maintain event supply inventory and event collateral
- Coordinate business related travel and prepare event supplies for travel
- Other development/event related administrative duties as required
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in event management required
- B.A. or B.S. Degree
- Knowledge of Raisers Edge NXT required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, InDesign preferred
- Excellent verbal, writing and interpersonal skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to interact professionally on the phone, by email, and in person with all levels of donors, members, staff, and the general public
- Strong organization and time management skills required
- Candidate must be a creative thinker with the ability to conceptualize new ideas and flexibility working in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing deadlines
- Confident self-starter, ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small team
- Candidate must be able to show initiative and anticipate needs
- Candidate must be able to work extended hours for events
