General Description
The Development Director (director) serves as a member of the leadership team. This position leads all fundraising and development efforts for GRS. The director is responsible for driving GRSs fundraising strategies, including grants, individuals giving, fundraising events (i.e. Fall Campaign), and other sources of revenue to meet GRSs annual fundraising goals.
This position works in a highly collaborative environment. The director will work with key players to ensure consistency and collaboration on internal and external communications. The director works closely with the Foundation Development Manager to manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, and support the creation and stewardship of a development plan. The director will also work with the Foundation Data Coordinator, the Treasurers of the Foundation Board, the School Board, the Parent Engagement Group (PEG), and the Ultimate Frisbee team, and the Robotics team.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of School, the Foundation Board Chair, the School Board, PEG, and other key stakeholders to develop, lead, and implement the Schools strategic fundraising plans to raise revenue from existing and new funders, donors, and other sources.
- Work closely with the Foundation Development Manager to research new funding opportunities and write compelling grant proposals and report
- Collaborate with other departments to align development goals with organizational objectives
- Prepare and submit reports for all grants and assist the Head of School in maintaining all required grant obligations.
- Monitor funded projects throughout the funding cycle to ensure activities and outcomes are on target. Work closely with FinEd MN to run reports in revenue to track progress, analyze donor information, and provide information for budgeting the planning.
- Maintain a grant calendar and due dates.
- Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns to promote fundraising initiatives
- Assist the Foundation Development Manager with maintaining a donor database and prepare and send prompt acknowledgement letters to donors and other correspondence.
- Handle or delegate all donor relationship management & communication.
- Lead the Schools fund drives.
- Ensure collaboration among key stakeholders
- Attend Foundation Board meetings, Foundation committee meetings, School Board Finance Committee meetings, and other fundraising committee meetings such as the planning committee for the Blue Heron Bash.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree and with a minimum of 7 years of experience in development and fundraising, with a strong background in fundraising strategy.
- Experience with fundraising, grant research, grant writing, and grant reporting.
- Proven experience in relationship management and fundraising
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill, including proposal writing
- Highly organized and efficient with the ability to deliver quality work, managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of digital marketing strategies and platforms
- Able to work independently and be self-directed, and also well in teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple interested persons virtually, on the phone, and in person.
- Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, Google Drive, etc. and have experience with Donor Tools, Quickbooks, or other donor and contact management software.
- Experience working in a school setting/education setting
- Has an understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges of a public charter Montessori program serving grades 1-12.
