Education:                              Bachelor’s degree preferred
Related Experience:             5+ years’ experience in volunteer management/fundraising/public                                                             relations activities
Supervision Given:               None
Supervision Received:          Chief Impact Officer (CIO), CommunityGiving

Job Summary: The Development Manager for CFCC reports to the Chief Impact Officer. This role is responsible for ensuring impactful and effective asset development in alignment with initiative goals and foundation standards while stewarding volunteer engagement for community funds in Carver County.

Job Duties
The Development Manager for the Community Foundation for Carver County responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  1. Asset Growth & Fund Development:
    1. Maintain working knowledge of fund development.
    2. Support a positive donor experience by helping to answer questions posed by donors, contacting donors about special projects or causes they are interested in, and by assisting with grant requests made by fund holders, either personally or through online portal.
    3. Assisted by CFCC board and community fund advisory committees, Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, individual prospects, nonprofit and community groups encouraging their giving to/through the Community Foundation.
    4. Maintain current and accurate records of contact with donors and prospects.
 
  1. Volunteer Engagement and Coordination:
    1. Serve as primary staff for CFCC and its constituent community funds.
    2. Provide staff leadership to committees to ensure activities align with foundation standards. This includes governance, fundraising, and grant making.
    3. Develop and implement strategies to enhance volunteer engagement in support of designated initiatives.
 
  1. Community Relations and Events:
    1. Participate in planning and implementation of CFCC Annual Event and special events for community funds.
    2. Work with the CFCC team to plan and coordinate programs, events, and communications to expose donors to information about community needs and other topics related to charitable giving or designated initiatives.
    3. Attend various Foundation events to engage with volunteers, donors, prospective donors, and professional advisors.
 
  1. CommunityGiving and Community Foundation Field:
    1. Supports and encourages building of collaborative and efficient systems to support all partner and associate foundations including education opportunities and other services.
    2. Remains informed on legal and technical issues as they affect current and prospective initiatives; advises the CIO, CFCC board and others on these issues as necessary.
    3. Knowledgeable and involved in regional and state philanthropic and community foundation field including Adnet, Association of Fundraising Professional, Minnesota Gift Planning Association, Minnesota Council on Foundations and others.
 
  1. Other Duties:
    1. Performs other duties as required through the policies and procedures of CFCC and CommunityGiving.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired
  1. Understanding of development process including prospect identification, cultivation and campaign management.
  2. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage volunteers.
  3. Strong leadership and project coordination skills.
  4. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
  5. Personable, customer-focused, and service orientated.
  6. Strong analytical, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills.
  7. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  8. Self-directed with strong teamwork skills.
  9. Willingness to travel throughout Carver County as needed.
  10. Ability and curiosity to learn new digital and technical skills.
