Remote Development Manager Apply
Our client, International DarkSky Association (IDA), is adding a Development Manager to their team. This person will report to the Director of Development and Communication and will be responsible for fundraising through growing the number of DarkSky members and driving annual revenue.
DarkSky/IDA is an international non-profit based in Tucson AZ, with a mission to restore the nighttime environment and protect communities from the harmful effects of light pollution through outreach, advocacy, and conservation. It is their members and donors that make it possible to fulfill this mission and this role is directly linked to the impact they will have as an organization.

The Growth Manager is responsible for a portfolio of donors giving at the general membership level (currently defined as <$1,000 annually) and supports activities relating to all tiers of membership and fundraising. They serve as the organization’s primary interface with members from outreach to ongoing engagement, with a focus on growth and retention, and ensuring that the member-donor experience is welcoming, supportive, educational, and engaging.
- Plan, manage, and grow DarkSky’s membership program so members feel supported and informed about DarkSky’s work, membership is growing, and revenue goals are met.
- Develop and implement strategies to meet revenue goals, improve member retention, expand member engagement, and grow membership numbers.
- Plan and execute campaigns, including acquisition, renewal, lapsed, and special appeals, write compelling content, and track and present results.
- Evaluate progress and effectiveness of campaigns and recommend strategies to improve these campaigns.
- Regularly reviews membership and donor records to ensure information is accurate and current in Work with the Communications Manager to create collateral materials for use in membership communications as needed.
- Work with other DevComm team members to ensure integration with major donor and advocate outreach.
- Support Chapter program by ensuring membership lists for local chapters are up to date.
- Collaborate on local Chapter-specific fundraising efforts to ensure they are coordinated with DarkSky’s overall approach.
- Act as a positive and professional ambassador for DarkSky both internally and in the greater community.
- Successfully engage, coordinate, and achieve program or project goals.
The team of DarkSky’s primary purpose is to execute their mission to protect the night from light pollution. To that end, they educate, engage, excite, enable and empower people around the world to take meaningful action to slow the growth of, and ultimately reverse, light pollution.
- Competitive salary with room for growth as the organization continues to grow: $56,000 - $63,000

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum 5 years of fundraising or association member growth experience, including responsibility for content development, revenue growth, and retention
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong writer and editor
- Experience working within CRM and Member Databases; NationBuilder CRM system experience preferred
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines
- Proven track record of growing revenue and/or membership numbers
- Excellent presentation and persuasion skills
- Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and resourcefulness
Location | The preference is for this position to be based in Greater Tucson, but they are open to remote locations.
