Job Title: DevOps Engineer

Duration: 12 months

Location: Remote.

Rate: $80 - $90/hr W2

Target Start Date: 9/23/24

Position Summary

The DevOps Engineer will automate infrastructure as code in deployment systems in both Azure production and non-production environments. They will manage various development, test, staging, and demo environments (code deployment using Continuous Improvement (CI)/Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines, backups, data refreshes), as well as deploy and manage software into the production environment while leveraging as much automation as possible. DevOps Engineers are responsible for continually advancing the technology in a collaborative and creative agile environment using many of the latest technologies and industry best practices, and finding better and more efficient ways of delivering solutions that meet business objectives. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for developing data pipelines and/or data integrations across the IS Sustainability stack. This is a new team and will be fast paced, highly visible, supporting the business goals by being an industry leader in this space. This role is focused on data engineering to build and deliver automated data pipelines from a variety of internal and

external data sources. The DevOps Engineer will partner with product owners, engineering and data platform teams to design, build, test and automate data pipelines that are relied upon across the company as the single source of truth.

Job Duties/Essential Functions

  • Develops and operates end-to-end automated solutions for IT ops activities (including deployment, release management, monitoring, etc.).
  • Collaborates with Operations, Development, and QA functions to develop solutions that are predisposed to scalability and simplified maintenance.
  • Configures and maintains on-premises and Azure cloud infrastructure to ensure availability, performance, scalability, and security of development, testing and production environments, relying on automated scripts and configuration management tools.
  • Creates and manages Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Maintains, extends, and builds automated CI and CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrates expertise in the deployment of integrated or stand-alone releases across multiple interconnected and dispersed applications.
  • Uses industry standard tools to improve and accelerate delivery of our products and services.
  • Provides fast and thoughtful issue resolution by executing quick fixes or proactively identifying and solving problems related to builds in production environments.
  • Creates the pipeline to periodically generate code quality metrics.
  • Drives each team to be self-sufficient by providing tools and training and brings different teams together to work towards common goals.
  • Coordinates resources across technology functions to stand up and monitor environments.
  • Configures and automates development and test environment, deployment, automation and support test data management.
  • Establishes workflows that use the automated pipelines for CI and CD.
  • Works closely with product and application teams to create version control branching strategy.
  • Works cross-value streams with other DevOps Engineers to avoid and resolve merge conflicts.
  • Develops tool integrations that allow for end-to-end traceability for application development (from requirements to code objects changed to meet the requirements).
  • Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Assists in other areas of the department as necessary.
  • Assists in other areas of the company as necessary.
  • Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery.

Required:

  • 5-7 years' experience working with Azure platform and products, such as Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Data Bricks, VMs, Logic Apps.
  • Proficient in the set up and use of Azure monitoring.
  • Proficient with Puppet, Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, and other orchestration tools.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting on premises IIS, Rest Calls, Firewalls, Hybrid Cloud Connectivity, data flows, business processes.
  • Automation and orchestration using Puppet, PowerShell, and Shell scripting.
  • Proficiency with at least one scripting/programming language: PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.
  • Willing to share knowledge with co-workers and to assist them in understanding technical and business topics.
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols, web technologies, and cloud computing.
  • Team player and willingness to establish a strong positive working relationship with all areas of the business.
  • Ability to work effectively, independent of assistance or supervision.
  • Innovative, creative, and extremely responsive with a strong sense of urgency.
Recommended:
  • Advanced Azure Certifications.
  • Experience building, troubleshooting, and supporting large and complex Digital eCommerce solutions.
