Job Description
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide specialized educational support for elementary students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school setting located in De Pere, WI. This contract position involves working onsite with a diverse caseload, delivering instruction and interpretation services throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support students with hearing impairments.
- Provide American Sign Language (ASL) instruction and interpretation as needed.
- Adapt educational materials and strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with parents and staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to student services and performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Possess at least two years of post-secondary education equivalent to 48 semester hours, or an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrate competency in assisting with instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics through formal state or local academic assessment.
- Hold a valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Educational Interpreter License.
- Experience working with elementary students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Deaf culture and American Sign Language is essential.
