About the Role

The Diesel & Forklift Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and forklifts. This role ensures vehicles operate safely and efficiently while adhering to company and regulatory safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and periodic maintenance on diesel trucks, including inspections, fluid changes, brake service, tune-ups, and component repairs.

  • Conduct minor and major repairs including engine, electrical, transmission, suspension, and body systems.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues.

  • Use hand and power tools to diagnose and repair equipment.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety and regulatory procedures.

  • Respond to after-hours calls for critical vehicle breakdowns.

  • Perform other duties as assigned; occasional Saturday work may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; advanced technical/vocational coursework preferred.

  • Air brake certification; CDL or willingness to obtain.

  • Minimum 5 years of vehicle repair and maintenance experience.

  • EPA license for vehicle air conditioning (IMVAC) preferred.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Basic PC skills (Microsoft Office).

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Industrial and vehicle maintenance environment.

  • Exposure to diesel engines, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.

  • Frequent standing, walking, handling tools, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
