The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The Mechanic must be experienced and equipped to take responsibility for the overall condition and availability of the fleet. This position requires a flexible work schedule to ensure trucks and equipment are available and fully operable for each job assignment and will be accountable for task completion and safety.
Pay: $24+/hr (Pay is competitive and based on experience!)

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software
- Repair or replace defective parts such as brakes, transmissions, steering systems, and fuel systems
- Inspect vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance work
- Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation
- Keep work area clean and follow safety procedures at all times
- Maintain eligibility for AIMS Company driving privileges (see AIMS Employee Handbook).
- Be punctual in job start time and be productive with the time required to complete tasks.
- Display effective teamwork with other employees while following instructions from the Lead Mechanic.
- Learn to anticipate what needs to be done next. (Prioritize repairs)
- Clean shop/tools at the end of your shift.
- Wear all appropriate PPE and practice safe work habits.
- Record all repairs & parts used on completed tasks.
- Conduct yourself in such a way as to promote honesty, fairness, and integrity in dealing with customers, their employees and all AIMS employees.
- Assist in performing Annual Inspections on all AIMS CMV s.
- Assist in placing annual County tag stickers on every AIMS vehicle.

Minimal requirements include:
- General repair knowledge on trucks.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Capable of working under time constraints to ensure critical deadlines are met.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Willing to work in confined spaces frequently.
- Must have dependable transportation and be willing to travel occasionally.
- Willing to work non-traditional hours and occasional weekends.
- Ability to demonstrate equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Operate autonomously and demonstrate problem solving abilities
- Ability to review and red-line plans, technical specifications, project documentation
- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred qualifications include:
- 3+ years previous mechanical experience on vacuum truck, combo trucks or hydrovacs.
- Certification from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)
- Experience with computerized diagnostic systems
- Welding or fabrication skills
Travel: Travel for this position is expected to be less than 20% per year. Overnight/multiple night travel may be required, including out-of-state travel. Per diem will be paid in addition to regular or overtime pay for travel.
Working Conditions: This position may require exposure to various weather conditions (i.e heat, rain, snow). Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend and twist at the waist, climb stairs, and walk without assistance.
