Digital Media and Communications Manager Location: Olympia, Washington, United States Salary: $92,016 annually Job Type: Exempt Remote Employment: Flexible/Hybrid Department: State Board for Community & Technical Colleges (SBCTC) Division: Executive Overview The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) is seeking a Digital Media and Communications Manager to lead digital media strategy and help shape the agency’s digital presence. The role reports to the SBCTC Communications Director and involves planning, creating, and managing engaging and accessible digital content across platforms. Responsibilities Lead digital media, visual communications, brand, and social media strategies and planning aligned with agency priorities and audience needs. Design and oversee the production of graphics, data visualizations, publications, and digital assets, ensuring accessibility by applying WCAG guidelines. Advise and collaborate with colleagues and partners to develop effective visual content and review creative work for quality, accuracy, and alignment with the organizational voice. Maintain and grow a consistent brand identity, including visual standards, tone, voice, and accessibility principles. Create and manage social media content across platforms, monitor engagement, respond to audiences, and use analytics to improve reach and understanding. Plan, produce, and edit video and photo content for digital platforms, ensuring accessibility and inclusive representation. Use communications tools to develop and maintain digital content, represent SBCTC in committees, and perform related duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media, journalism, or related field and five years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Proven ability to develop, lead, and implement strategies across various communication channels. Strong visual communication skills, including graphic design, data visualization, and multimedia content creation. Experience with social media management, audience engagement, and analytics. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. Proficiency in video and photography production, including planning, filming, and editing. Working knowledge of WCAG and experience creating accessible digital content. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex information into audience-centered content. Experience maintaining brand consistency and managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and collaborating effectively. Application Requirements Online application.
