The Diocesan pastoral center is located in Fresno. This position is located at the diocesan pastoral center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties as assigned.) Close assigned general ledger accounts timely each month; prepare and post journal entries; perform account reconciliations; generate analysis reports; reconcile inter-diocesan accounts and bank reconciliations. Develop and document accounting procedures for assigned activities. Assist in special projects and analyses as assigned. Process daily accounts payable invoices; resolve vendor issues and discrepancies promptly. Manage the organization’s fixed assets. Recommend and implement accounting methods and procedures to improve operating efficiencies and accuracy. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance Minimum 3 years’ similar professional experience Working knowledge of SAGE highly desirable Strong organizational, team, and analytical skills Ability to work independently with limited or general instructions Accurate and detail-oriented Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads and other employees Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP Strong working knowledge of all aspects of the general accounting function Ability to analyze large data sets and identify trends, issues, and appropriate actions Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; basic Word and Outlook Fixed Asset accounting experience is preferred We believe work should be rewarding and challenging. Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno St. Anthony Retreat Center and St. Teresita Youth Center • Exempt, Full-time • Salary: $75,000 • Apply: [emailprotected] • Located: 43816 Sierra Dr., Three Rivers, CA 93271 SUMMARY The Saint Anthony Retreat Center and Santa Teresita Youth Center, owned and operated by the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno, is a retreat facility oriented to both religious and secular retreats/conferences. The Center offers both adult and youth services in two facilities located adjacent to one another on sixty-two acres of blue oak woodlands near the Sequoia National Park, in Three Rivers. Both facilities offer meeting space, dining, and overnight accommodations. Within this setting, the Business Manager is employed by the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno and reports to the Executive Director – Saint Anthony Retreat Center. The position manages day-to-day business/fiscal and operational functions and staff in support of both facilities. It is part of the Executive Director’s management team and requires a ministerial perspective in execution of duties. The role emphasizes organizational maturity, loyalty, effective communication, discretion, and collaboration with diocesan leadership. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and supervise all business functions/staff including budget preparation, analysis, control, purchasing, human resources, payroll, and fee/monies collection and accounting. Supervise accounting and bookkeeping functions; oversee financial statements and reports; monitor revenues; manage payables/receivables; prepare claims for payment. Oversee operational functions/staff including Food Services, Housekeeping, Grounds and Maintenance; consult with the Executive Director on issues. Recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate, and discipline staff as appropriate and in accordance with policies and law. Develop long-range and annual fiscal plans and revenue projections; monitor revenue. Develop and evaluate administrative, fiscal, and business policies; explain policies to management, staff, patrons, and stakeholders. Consult with the Diocese Chief Financial Officer on fiscal control, cost accounting, and fee/rate development. Maintain effective communications with management, Pastoral Center staff, and external partners. Occasionally spend time on location during retreats and conferences. Provide regular status reports to leadership on operational issues and projects. Prepare financial data for planning; develop business and marketing plans. Represent the Executive Director in meetings with Chancery, Pastoral Center staff, patrons, and state/federal officials. Lead or participate in special projects; prepare studies, reports, and correspondence as needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: Financial and fiscal administration, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for non-profit organizations Cost accounting and best practices in non-profit settings Purchasing, inventory control, HR management, and budgeting Policies for operating a retreat facility (lodging, food service, housekeeping, grounds) Automated accounting systems and computer software used in a business setting Skills/Abilities: Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and diocesan leaders Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Analyze budgets, fiscal, operational, HR, and staffing issues and recommend actions Organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively Problem solve, exercise judgment, and adhere to policies/procedures Gather, analyze, and present data and reports Plan, organize, and manage facility operations with policy compliance Manage staff through coordination and evaluation Operate various computer hardware/software relevant to duties Maintain loyalty and collaboration with leadership Demonstrate maturity, integrity, initiative, independence, and discretion MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fiscal Administration, Accounting, or related field from an accredited institution.
