At Emory Valley Center, we are seeking dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our amazing team! In this vital position, you will provide critical support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), assisting them in achieving their personal aspirations and enhancing their overall well-being. As a DSP, you will have the rewarding opportunity to positively influence someone’s life by helping them with daily activities, fostering independence, and encouraging active participation in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care Support: Assist individuals with their daily routines, including personal grooming, meal preparation, and light household tasks.
  • Daily Living Assistance: Guide individuals in performing activities of daily living (ADLs) while promoting their independence.
  • Behavioral Guidance: Apply behavior management techniques and help individuals navigate social situations effectively.
  • Health Monitoring: Keep an eye on and report any changes in health and behavior, and support medication management as necessary.
  • Community Participation: Organize and accompany individuals in activities and outings within the community to foster social connections.
  • Record Keeping: Keep precise documentation of individuals' progress, incidents, and daily activities as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with families, team members, and other stakeholders to create and execute tailored support plans.

Additional Information:

  • This role may involve flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of those we serve.
  • We offer both full-time and part-time positions to fit your lifestyle.
  • Please note that background checks and adherence to state regulations are required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but we offer waivers for eligible candidates.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are a must!
  • You should thrive both as an independent worker and as a collaborative team member.
  • For those joining us on the day shift, a valid Tennessee Driver's License is typically required.
  • Reliable transportation to ensure you get to and from work.
  • Physical capability to assist individuals, including the ability to lift and support mobility as necessary.
  • Willingness to adapt to dynamic environments and meet diverse needs with flexibility.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable standing and walking for long durations.
  • Ability to lift and provide support to clients needing mobility assistance as needed.
  • Ability to react promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
