In this essential position, you will provide support and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them navigate their daily lives and achieve personal goals. As a DSP, you will engage with clients in meaningful ways, promote independence, and foster their participation in community activities. This role offers an invaluable opportunity to make a positive impact and support individuals in realizing their fullest potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Encourage and support participation in social and community activities to enhance life skills and relationships.
  • Implement individualized support plans tailored to each client's unique needs and aspirations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any incidents as required.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals, promoting a positive environment.
  • Collaborate with families and other professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience in social services or healthcare is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a nurturing and patient attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation are necessary.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or must be willing to obtain shortly after hire.
