As we continue to grow, we are investing in the leadership infrastructure to match.The OpportunityThis is a high-impact, enterprise-wide role for an experienced safety professional who thrives on the plant floor just as much as in the boardroom. Reporting to the VP Operations, you will own the Health and Safety Management System across all six sites and personally drive a culture where hazards get caught before they become incidents. This is not a compliance-only role. We want someone who builds trust with workers, coaches supervisors, and makes safety a competitive advantage.What You'll DoField Presence and Site OperationsSpend meaningful time on the plant floor across all six sites conducting walkthroughs, coaching supervisors, and identifying hazardsDeliver hands-on risk assessments and real-time guidance to frontline supervisors and plant managersBuild and maintain site-specific Job Hazard Analysis booklets and deliver related training on-siteCoordinate and deliver enterprise safety training including LOTO, confined space, first aid/CPR, and behavioural-based safety programsActively engage workers and union representatives to build frontline credibility and trustProgram Management and ComplianceAdminister the enterprise Health and Safety Management System across all sites: policies, procedures, training programs, compliance calendars, and industrial hygiene surveysEnsure full regulatory compliance with WorkSafeBC, Alberta OHS Act, and Saskatchewan OHS Regulations across all jurisdictionsManage contractor safety vetting and oversight; oversee occupational disability management in partnership with People & CultureIncident Investigation and ResponseLead investigations for all high-severity events, near-misses, and regulatory concernsConduct root cause analysis and track corrective actions to closureRespond to regulatory inspections, inquiries, and emergencies across all jurisdictionsCulture, Reporting, and CommunicationBuild a proactive safety culture grounded in hazard anticipation, behavioural-based safety, and positive reinforcementReport monthly safety statistics and trends to VP Operations and plant leadershipDrive prevention strategies and continuous improvement across all sites and jurisdictionsWhat You BringExperience8+ years of progressive OHS experience with a strong emphasis on field-level and operational work3+ years in a multi-site or enterprise-level H&S role with direct compliance and program accountabilityProven experience in a unionized manufacturing or food processing environment; meat processing is a strong assetEducation and CertificationPost-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related fieldCRSP or NCSO designation (required, or actively in progress)Active First Aid certification requiredSkills and AttributesWorking knowledge of WorkSafeBC, Alberta OHS Act, and Saskatchewan OHS Regulations, 2020Equally effective communicating with plant workers and executive leadershipStrong incident investigation skills including root cause analysis and corrective action trackingHighly organized with strong time management across multiple sites and competing prioritiesValid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly across BC, AB, and SKFlexible to work varied hours to respond to operational needs or emergency situationsWhy Join Donald's Fine FoodsA genuine leadership role with enterprise-wide scope across six production sitesHigh visibility and direct access to VP Operations and plant leadership teamsA company investing in its people infrastructure and ready to build something betterCollaborative HR and Operations teams committed to doing this rightCompetitive salary, bonus, and full benefitsHow to ApplyInterested candidates are encouraged to apply directly through LinkedIn or submit their resume and cover letter to our People & Culture team.
