Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Director to join our Market Operations team.

About the role

The Director of Insurance Operations helps scale and run Oscar's business operations by providing day to day operational management and monitoring of department success, optimization of operations and providing visibility into the execution of department efforts.

You will report to the Senior Vice President, P&L.

Work Location:

Oscar is a blended work culture where everyone, regardless of work type or location, feels connected to their teammates, our culture and our mission.

If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office ( in Hudson Square), our Tempe office (off the 101 at University Ave), or our Los Angeles office (in Marina Del Rey), you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week. Otherwise, this is a remote / work-from-home role.

You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C. Note, this list of states is subject to change. #LI-Remote

The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $158,400 - $207,900 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $142,560- $187,100 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants, and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Develop systems and reporting that allows leadership to develop, measure, track, and prioritize efforts to hit key company and department goals.
  • Routinely identify and surface emerging executional and performance risks to leadership, in a manner that can be summarized at an executive level.
  • Understand and ensure coordination with cross-functional and corporate strategy, planning, and operating models.
  • Represent business with cross-functional partners on the development of new processes and the roll-out of tasks and requests of the markets to ensure appropriate prioritization and expectations for completion.
  • Lead the development of a framework for ongoing departmental reviews and facilitate/track the preparation and presentation of status reporting by the relevant leaders.
  • Provide program leadership on critical efforts; dive in to lead initiatives or cross-functional work streams where needed.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of operations experience, including at least 5 years in the health insurance sector.
  • 8+ years of experience with program management development and ownership.

Bonus Points

  • Experience partnering with executive leaders and working cross-functionally.
  • Experience working within a rapidly scaling organization.
  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience developing structure and repeatable, scalable processes to emerging, ambiguous. efforts within a high-growth, fast-paced organization.

Travel

  • 5-10%, if based outside New York.
