DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL APPLICATIONS
The Director of Clinical Applications reports directly to the Senior Director of Information Systems. They support the deployment and effective and efficient delivery of applications that support the clinical mission of client. The prime clinical applications are TouchWorks, Follow My Health, Aria, MIMS, imaging archive (IBM VNA), RayStation, Eclipse, and various electronic interfaces to partners, labs, pharmacies, and financial systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Owns the roadmap and plan for transition from legacy architecture
(Aria/VisionTree/Eclipse/etc.) to future state (enterprise EMR, next generation treatment planning), taking account of relevant risks.

Organize the clinical application team to provide high-quality application support during
extended operating hours and avoid key person risk; this includes the timely establishment of incident bridges for critical incidents, even if out-of-hours.

Communicate plans and progress to all stakeholders (Executives, clinical leadership, and IT).

Facilitate and/or participate in workshops to redesign business and clinical processes to
incorporate new clinical applications.

Prioritize feature requests, upgrades, and bug fixes across all the clinical platforms in
consultation with stakeholders.

Participate in the IT Change Management process/ release schedule to introduce changes to in a way that minimizes disruption to patient treatment; this must take account of
organizational readiness to implement the changes.

Implement IT work management processes that introduce system changes in a predictable, incremental manner (these may include Agile Scrum, Kanban, or other relevant practices)

Own the technical relationships with organizations where client exchanges data, including
partners, labs, pharmacies, financial services, etc.

Primary client IT contact for the clinical application vendors.

Stakeholder Management ability to work with internal and external (partner) teams to
ensure seamless data flow and operations.

Business Continuity exposure to disaster recovery, business continuity, and security
planning to enable risk management.

Compliance understand HIPAA, data security, and other regulatory requirements and align system initiatives with these imperatives.

Maintain a comprehensive technical document library for client s clinical applications.

Maintain a document library for clinical application projects in progress per agreed standards (at a minimum to include an up-to-date project plan, schedule, and technical specifications for any new features).

Provide complete transparency of activities to IT and executive leadership.

Comply with all client policies related to Privacy Rules established under
the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Qualifications
Bachelors level degree in Computer Science or related discipline; Master degree preferred.
At least 10 years IT experience.
At least 7 years healthcare experience.
Experience implementing clinical applications, such as EMR, patient portal, image archive, or PACS.
Experience managing third-party vendors, including implementation teams.
Experience working in a program environment, requiring coordination across multiple related initiatives.
Knowledge of EMR systems (especially Touchworks, Aria) preferred.
Knowledge of clinical interfaces, including HL7 and CCD messaging (eLink), preferred. Knowledge of clinical imaging and treatment planning applications (VNA, MIM, RayStation) preferred.
Working Environment
This position is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week). The working environment can sometimes be fast-paced, requiring direct patient interaction. The Director of Clinical Application will be required to maintain a high-level of professionalism in all patient/visitor interactions.
This is expected to be an on-site position or hybrid (>60% onsite).
