Position Overview
The Director of Cost Accounting will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of product standard costing.. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting and manufacturing operations, as well as the ability to analyze data, identify cost trends, and make strategic recommendations for cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the cost accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely cost information
- Develop and implement cost accounting policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Oversee all aspects of product costing, including standard cost development, variance analysis, and cost trend analysis
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support operational finance and supply chain initiatives
- Conduct month-end close activities related to cost accounting, inventory, and product profitability
- Prepare and analyze budgets and forecasts for product costs, labor, and overhead
- Provide financial reporting and metric tracking for inventory, cost of goods sold, and other cost-related data
- Identify and implement cost control measures to improve profitability
- Perform analysis on cost trends, identifying variances and making recommendations for improvement
- Review and approve purchase price variances (PPV) and ensure accuracy of inventory cost
- Other duties as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 12+ years of experience in cost accounting
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices, including standard cost development, variance analysis, and inventory costing
- Knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing operations in a pharmaceutical setting is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and interpret cost trends
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software
