Safe Communities is a 501 c3 organization that educates, engages, and empowers adults, congregations, institutions, and organizations about how to keep children safe from sexual abuse.

We are seeking to hire a part-time (25 hours per week) Director of Development and Community Engagement to work in-office with the potential for hybrid work after 90 days of employment. This position is non-exempt with an annual salary of $25,000/year plus bonus based on development funds goals being met. We are looking for someone who has great networking skills, excellent communication, and the drive to take the organization to the next level in fundraising.

POSITION SUMMARY: This individual will work to cultivate relationships in the community with potential donors, corporations and collaborative organizations, and meet set goals for fundraising. Grant writing, church support outreach, and fundraising campaigns will be priorities, as well as utilizing social media to increase awareness of the organization. Financial updates will be provided to the board regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and/or foundations to help achieve our organization's overall mission and goals
  • Grant research, writing and target recommendations to Executive Director
  • Church support outreach
  • Social media awareness campaigns
  • Fund raising campaigns (currently Spring and Fall, plus Extra Give in November)
  • Writing content for letters, social media posts, and email solicitation for defined donor segments; creating timelines for mailings/distributions and coordinating mailings with Office Manager
  • Prepare Financial updates for Board meetings/attend meetings with Executive Director
  • Attend networking events beneficial to foundation and donor cultivation

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Four years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development and grant writing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy in all tasks, attention to detail
  • Community involvement
  • Professional appearance and demeanor ability to interact with people from all walks of life
  • Experience with cloud-based donor and accounting data base systems (Aplos knowledge a plus)
  • Proficient in all MS applications using MS OneDrive as shared platform

HOURS

  • 25 hours per week
  • Flexible business hours Monday-Friday / Other days & hours as

needed for events and meetings
